Jeff and Marilyn Greenway joined the ministry of Vida Joven Nicaragua in 2006 after many years of ministry with Young Life in the U.S. Jeff oversees La Finca, Vida Joven's camp and farm ministry based outside of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. In addition, Jeff coordinates the many mission trip teams who partner with Vida Joven each year.
In just a few short years, Jeff and Marilyn have already made an enormous impact on Vida Joven's ministries, and both La Finca and the mission trip component have dramatically benefited from their faithful service. Jeff also began the process of summer intern placements with Vida Joven, which has been a fantastic opportunity for both the interns and the mission teams.
Jeff and Marilyn have three wonderful daughters, Kate, Anna and Olivia, and live in the capital city of Managua.
An update from Jeff and Marilyn - April 2014:
Spring is here and it is time to catch up with our friends. Thank you for praying. Thank you for being faithful in your support of the work of Young Life here in Nicaragua.
The year began with a full month of outreach camps in January. January has become our most optimal time to put camps together. We were thrilled to host 875 kids and leaders at out outreach camps.
In March we had follow-up camps; these are for kids who accepted Christ. We go deeper in teaching, challenging, and encouraging these kids with what this walk with Christ looks like. We had 4 weekend camps in March for over 700 kids and their leaders.
Along with weekend camps in March this year, we also hosted 10 mission teams that came to serve and work with us. Marilyn and I had the pleasure of working with 2 of them, one in Esteli and another in Rivas. They were meaningful times for all of us. Friendships have been formed, the ministry encouraged, teams were able to see and be part of sharing the love of Jesus to kids who are looking for hope and purpose.
April is a time for leadership training. As the ministry is growing, we are busting out of our camp facilities. Realizing we would not have enough space to do all levels of training together, we decided to do our leadership training for level 1 and level 2 at this time. As the numbers came in, we were amazed by how many potential and new leaders we have. We had to limit it to 140 level 1 leaders and 70 level 2 leaders in our training camp this past week.
God has been blessing us with many opportunities to see his grace, love and power. It is a joy to see a strong ministry spread into new places as we follow the call to reach Kids for Christ in Nicaragua. Thank you for being part of the work here through your prayers and support.
With love and gratitude, Jeff and Marilyn
