Center for Prayer

The Center for Prayer and Spiritual Growth is dedicated to being a safe place where all are welcome to spend quiet time with the Lord and fellow companions. We offer a place where people can gather for prayer, find a quiet place to meditate on God’s Word, attend a class on Christian disciplines, receive spiritual direction or meet with a small group of fellow journeyers.  We are located on the Southwest corner of the church campus at 800 Colonial Avenue.

What is Spiritual Growth?

Spiritual growth is the process of becoming more like Christ.  We believe that “every Christian is to become a little Christ”. (C.S. Lewis)

Yet, there is one aspect of spiritual growth that is paradoxical:  We cannot make spiritual growth happen; yet it cannot happen without us. Spiritual growth is God’s gift to us as we pursue him.

We pursue God when we read and study the Bible, pray, fellowship, worship and serve others.  Through the centuries these practices have been encouraged as a way to focus more fully on our relationship with the triune God.

Spiritual growth is not easy, but the goal of becoming more like Christ is worth every effort.

To aid you in your journey, we have created an assessment tool to let you gauge where you are in your journey toward becoming more like Christ.  After you take the assessment, we have several plans that will help you select classes, disciplines and/or practices that will help you in your Spiritual Growth.

Please join me as we journey together and become more like Christ.
