Chris Haynes

ChrisChris Haynes is serving as a missionary from First Presbyterian Norfolk in Europe.  In the Czech Republic he serves as one of the pastors at Prague Christian Fellowship, an English-speaking international church, which meets in a small concert hall in downtown Prague.  The congregation is about fifty percent Czech and fifty percent international from about twenty-five different countries, and averages about 100 people on Sunday mornings.  Also, Chris works with Scripture Union in the Czech Republic as an English teacher at its Christian camps for youth and college students.

Additionally, Chris serves as a professor at Tyndale Theological Seminary, just outside of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.  He teaches intermediate New Testament Greek and advanced Greek exegesis as well as teaching ESL (English-as-a-Second-Lanaguage) courses to help the students at the seminary.  Tyndale has about forty full-time students and forty part-time students from twenty different countries, with about a third from Europe, a third from Africa, and a third from Asia.  Beginning in September 2014, he will be commuting three days a week from Prague to teach at Tyndale.

Prior to serving as a missionary in the Czech Republic and The Netherlands, Chris worked as a missionary teaching English for one year to about fifty members of Vida Joven (Young Life) Nicaragua.  He still regularly teaches two of his former students, who are now the national directors for Vida Joven Nicaragua and Guatemala, respectively.

Before going on the mission field, Chris served for five years as the Personal Assistant to the Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk.  In addition, to his work on staff, he helped lead the Alpha Course and also served as an ordained deacon.
