Kristine Rand became the Director for The Center for Prayer and Spiritual Growth in February 2010.

She began to feel called to The Center since the idea was originally conceived in 2005.   Responding to this call took additional discernment and preparation.  She enrolled in an MSW program to learn how to really connect and learn with and from others.  Additionally, she enrolled in the Certificate program at Columbia Theological Seminary.  So, today she stands before you better equipped, but still open to learn.  She loves to talk with people, hear their stories, listen to their questions and help them recognize God’s call.

Kristine has always loved Christ. She knows that her story began so early because of the prayers of a faithful grandmother, aunt, mother and father.  Her parents are strong Christians who recently retired as missionaries to Turkey.

Kristine joined First Presbyterian Church in 1988 and has been a Sunday School/Bible study teacher, Elder, and committee chairperson for numerous committees. Kristine has been involved with mission work for over two decades and continues to do mission work locally and internationally through First Presbyterian, Living Waters and Habitat for Humanity.

Kristine received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and her Masters degree from Norfolk State.  She is also in the process of completing a certificate in Spiritual Formation from Columbia Theological Seminary.  In addition to her work at the church, she is a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.).   Her healing model integrates spiritual, physical and spiritual health.

Kristine and her husband Bill met at Town Point Park and have been married for over twenty years.   They have three daughters, Rachel, Rebecca and Ruth Hannah who continue to live out their faith as they attend college and graduate school.

Kristine loves biking, swimming, hiking and construction projects.
